Why am I a Christian today? As I have thought of this question, my mind turns to many reasons. However, the most important reason to me is Jesus Christ. Jesus is the One who makes me a Christian.
I wasn't always a "Christian" in the orthodox sense. Even though I was born and raised in a Christian home setting and "knew" the teachings about Jesus Christ, I didn't know Him as my personal friend and Savior. Jesus was God's Son, not my Savior. I felt no need to have a Savior in my life.
However, through a series of circumstances that I went through, I came to the realization that I could not save myself. Sin - my sin, was too great for me to deal with. I could not earn freedom from its slavish habits and tendencies, try as I might. When I turned to Jesus and gave myself to Him, He changed my life. He gave me power to overcome my sinful tendencies, and I am now an overcomer because of Him.
I love Jesus because He has showed His great love to me. He has become more than just a storybook person. He is real and powerful, and I have been privileged to come to know Him. I look forward to seeing Jesus come soon as He promised He would, and I want to share the knowledge of this wonderful person with others.
